The Folly Beach Wahine Classic is one of the East Coast’s premier surfing events and South Carolina’s only all-female surf contest. This two-day contest includes pro, amateur, and novice divisions. The top competitors in the Pro divisions win CASH prizes and the top amateur divisions win amazing prize bags. This year, 2022, is our 20th Anniversary Event!
Surfboards
Shortboard - Surfboards cannot exceed 2 ft. taller than the competitor’s height.
Longboard - Surfboards must be at least 9 ft. in length. Menehune longboard must be at least 3 ft. taller than the competitor in this age group only
BodyBoard - Bodyboards cannot exceed 46” in length
Division Notes
Open Novice Division - Must be first competition & have less than 2 years of experience surfing. Shortboard, Funshape, or Longboard.
Push-n-Surf Division - 8 yrs and under, open to girls and boys. Adult must accompany child in the water. Each child gets a contest t-shirt and award.

Pick up your t-shirt, welcome bag, competitors’ tattoo, and check out the contest schedule! Refreshments available for all surfers and their families.
Saturday, July 30, 2022 - Day 1 of Competition
The Washout, 1550 E. Ashley Ave.
- 7 a.m. Set up
- 8 a.m. All competitors should be ready to begin at 8 am
- 11:30 a.m Lunch and Wahine Group Photo
The Washout Restaurant, 41 Center St
- 5 p.m. Competitors’ Party
Dinner for competitors and music and dancing for all. Bring the whole family and relax at this awesome venue for food, drink, and music before the final day of competition! Non-competitors can join the FBWC buffet for a $5 cash donation or order off the menu.
Sunday, July 31, 2022 - Day 2 of Competition
